I am not addicted to shoes. I own the bare minimum required for my running needs and even dabble in a little barefoot training when I feel I need it. Obviously, I’m an oddball. I know a lot of runners who not only have a pair of shoes for every conceivable unique situation (short distance, long distance, road, trail, summer, winter, rain, desert, mountains, lava, hurricanes, etc) but at least one backup pair for each – one is none, of course. 99% of their shoes sit in the boxes for years with the laces still factory-tied.
